Kim has always had a fascination with drawing and painting animals and in particular horses. When she was young she was fortunate enough to have her own horse and that interest has stayed with her throughout her life. She has studied these creatures through a variety of different media and is currently enjoying the exploration of drawing with soft pastels.
Throughout this succession of Pastel, Oil and Gouache paintings Kim works quickly and intuitively aiming to capture that elusive moment in time by spontaneous mark making.
Kim also wants her mark making to be significant and considered without being too controlled and overworked. Her intention is to depict an intimate portrayal, seeking to capture these magnificent beast’s vigour and vitality using her instinctive, creative understanding to guide and influence her actions.
